 2002 Joseph Anthony Cabernet Sauvignon
The 2002 Joseph
Anthony Cabernet Sauvignon is a limited production
wine with only 1084 cases produced. This
vintage is our first release and is a blend of 80 percent
Cabernet Sauvignon and 20 percent Syrah. The
grapes are from Dunnigan California and were picked
the same day in early November 2002. Both were
ultra-ripe and highly concentrated. The fermentation
was short and moderately temperate in order to maintain
the fruity aromas. The wine was aged for 18 months
in American oak barrels and bottled on March 28, 2004.
This wine has classic Cabernet Sauvignon aromas with
layers of ripe plum and cassis. The Syrah adds
subtle undertones of cherry and leather. All
of these glorious aromas coupled with rich toasty oak
create a complex nose far exceeding expectation. The
flavor delivers all that you hope for with a mirror
of the aromas. These include bright blackberry
jam, plum and cassis flavors wrapped in a complex and
mouth filling wine. The finish is long and rich
with supple but noticeable tannins. This fine
Cabernet is drinking beautifully now and will improve
even more over the next 2 to 3 years. JA will
enhance even the richest of meals and would pair best
with braised leg of lamb.
We are now out of the 2002 Cabernet and will be releasing the 2004 shortly.

On the palate, bright acidity carries flavors of green apple, star fruit, lemon cream and pineapple through a creamy finish. Only 290 cases produced.
